On June 30, Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee said that after implementing the arrangement of villages and residential groups, the whole province reduced 1,006 villages and residential groups compared to before, from 1,922 to 916 villages and residential groups.
The number of villages and residential groups meeting standards for household size increased from 15.3% to 84.5%, while the number of villages and residential groups that did not meet standards decreased from 84.7% to 15.5%. The average number of households per village and residential group also increased from 241 to 507 households, an increase of more than 110%.
Most of the villages that do not meet the standards belong to particularly difficult communes, ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border communes or scattered populations, and isolated terrain. Cases of intrusive cultivation and settlement are also transferred for management according to administrative boundaries regulations, creating favorable conditions for management and community activities.
The arrangement aims to streamline focal points, reduce the number of non-specialized personnel, save state budget and create conditions to focus on investing in infrastructure and cultural institutions. At the same time, improve the quality of Party cell activities, the effectiveness of the Fatherland Front Work Committee and socio-political organizations, strengthen the ability to mobilize people to participate in movements, and maintain security and national defense at the grassroots level.
The arrangement of villages and residential groups in Quang Tri is implemented according to decrees and directives of the Government, in order to be consistent with the policy of innovation, streamlining the administrative apparatus and improving the efficiency of local management.
