The project to expand National Highway 13 from 6 to 8 lanes, a section nearly 15 km long from Vinh Binh bridge to Le Hong Phong intersection.
According to records, the section from Cau Ong Bo intersection to Le Hong Phong intersection, about nearly 10 km long, has basically completed the expansion from 6 to 8 lanes. The construction unit is completing the sidewalk, painting lane markings, and replacing the median strip to divide equally 4 lanes on each side.
Meanwhile, the section from Cau Ong Bo intersection to Vinh Binh bridge, more than 5km long, has slower construction progress. The reason is that the site clearance for this section is slow, and there is no clean land for the construction unit for a long time. Up to now, site clearance has been completed, and units are completing the relocation of power grid infrastructure and other infrastructure here.
In addition, units are accelerating the construction progress to expand 2 more lanes and build sidewalks. Dozens of machines and manpower are focusing on pouring stones and compacting the roadbed.

Notably, the section from Vinh Binh bridge to Lai Thieu toll station, about 3 km long, has just been expanded from 6 lanes to 8 lanes, and the roadbed has been raised.
According to records, previously, this section had a low roadbed, and whenever it rained heavily, it was often flooded. This affected traffic safety and caused traffic congestion through here.
Currently, the construction unit is pouring rock and raising the roadbed of this section to about 0.5 m, with some sections rising nearly 1 m. This is to raise the road surface, avoiding flooding when it rains or high tides rise.

According to records, because most of the site is serving construction, traffic through the Binh Hoa ward section is often congested. During peak hours (6-8 am or 16-18 pm), traffic congestion often occurs here.

It is known that the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 from 6 to 8 lanes section passing through Binh Duong (formerly) started in early 2022. The project is being implemented to expand from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Dau Mot ward. The total investment of the approved adjusted project is 6,255 billion VND.
The project expects to reduce traffic congestion at the gateway to the center of Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, it creates momentum for urban and economic development in Binh Hoa, Lai Thieu, Thuan Giao, Thuan An, Phu Loi, Thu Dau Mot wards. It is expected that in 2026, the project will be completed and put into use.
