An Giang voters have just proposed that the authorities invest in expanding the surface of National Highway 91 (Road N1), National Highway 91C to create favorable conditions for people when traveling, limiting traffic accidents.

Voters also recommended that the Ministry of Construction consider investing in some bridges. That is the bridge connecting Cho Moi district with neighboring localities to synchronize infrastructure. The bridge over Cai San River, connecting with National Highway 80 to connect traffic routes with VSIP Industrial Park in Vinh Thanh District, Can Tho City.

Responding to the above issue, the Ministry of Construction said about the investment in upgrading and expanding the road surface of the National Highway 91 bypass to expand National Highway 91C as follows:

The section of National Highway 91 avoiding Chau Doc city from Km113+071 - Km125 was invested and completed in August 2014 with a scale of 2 lanes, a road surface width of 7 m; a roadbed width of 9 m, a asphalt concrete road surface and is currently operating normally.

To ensure traffic safety on the route, the Ministry of Construction has directed the Vietnam Road Administration to prepare to invest in projects to repair roadbeds and surfaces, reinforce roadbed slopes and drainage systems with a budget of about 28.3 billion VND. The Ministry plans to start the project in April 2025 and complete it in October 2025.

According to the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, National Highway 91C has a starting point connecting to National Highway 91 in An Giang city; the end point is at Khanh Binh Border Gate, about 36 km long, level III scale, 2 - 4 lanes. Current status, the route has been basically invested in meeting the standards of a level IV road with 2 lanes.

Recently, the Ministry of Construction has directed the Vietnam Road Administration to carry out regular maintenance and invest in repairs using capital for road economic activities with a total cost of about 73.9 billion VND in 2023, 2024 and an estimated 23 billion VND in 2025, basically meeting the travel needs of the people.

The Ministry of Construction agreed with the proposal of voters of An Giang province on the necessity of investing, upgrading and expanding the surface of National Highway 91, National Highway 91C to meet the transportation needs and economic development of An Giang province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general.

Regarding the investment in bridges, the Ministry of Construction said that the investment support for bridges connecting Binh Phuoc Xuan and My Hiep communes in Cho Moi district; the bridge connecting Binh Phuoc Xuan commune through Hoi An town; the bridge over Cai San river connecting National Highway 80, the Ministry of Construction agreed on the necessity of investing in the above projects. Because the projects are under the management and investment authority of the People's Committee of An Giang province. Therefore, the Ministry of Construction recommends that the People's Committee of An Giang province proactively balance capital sources for implementation.
