Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision 27/2026/QD-UBND on the Regulation on management, protection and promotion of the value of UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau.
The Regulations clearly stipulate the scope of regulation for all activities related to the management, protection and promotion of the value of Geoparks applicable to departments, agencies, branches, localities and related organizations and individuals.
Tourism, service, cultural, scientific research activities; construction and mineral exploitation... will be built and organized according to the new regulations.
One of the important contents of the Regulation is to define management principles in the direction of conservation associated with sustainable development.
The geological, cultural and natural values of Dong Van Karst Plateau must be protected intact, and at the same time rationally exploited for socio-economic development, improving people's lives, protecting the ecological environment and preserving local cultural identity.
The regulation also clearly stipulates the zoning of management with core zones, buffer zones and transition zones. In which, the core zone is strictly protected, prohibiting all activities that change the landscape and original elements of the heritage.
The buffer zone allows controlled activities, limiting negative impacts. The transition zone is an area of socio-economic development but must comply with UNESCO criteria and ensure harmony between development and conservation.
The regulation also encourages the development of geological tourism, ecotourism, and community tourism associated with heritage education. Exploitation activities must be strictly controlled, not exceeding the load-bearing capacity of the environment and heritage.
Construction, mineral exploitation, scientific research, festival organization, tourism services... all must strictly comply with legal regulations, ensuring that they do not affect the outstanding global value of the Geopark.
The regulation takes effect from May 10, 2026, and at the same time abolishes previous regulations, creating a unified legal basis for the management, protection and promotion of the value of Dong Van Karst Plateau.
