Go to Ho Chi Minh City Park to use free Wi-Fi
Attached to Cho Quan ward since childhood, Mr. Ngo Thoai Ngan and his wife were surprised when they first experienced public Internet right in the park. Usually going to the park to exercise and cool off, before, to access the network, Mr. Ngan had a habit of using Mobifone's mobile 4G package with a cost of 120,000 VND per month. But now, the park has free Wi-Fi, Mr. Ngan feels very comfortable using wifi to access the network.
Not only is there free internet access, especially, the access interface also integrates the function of searching for administrative information, documents and health checks of the ward," Mr. Ngan said.
For young people, public Internet broadcasting points solve many inadequacies when studying and living outdoors. Lam Thuy Ngoc and Pham Chi Phong Yen, students of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said that daily network usage demand is very large but is often interrupted due to outage of mobile data. The internet coverage of the park helps students have more comfortable study space without worrying about costs.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Hieu, a technology motorbike taxi driver residing in Phu Dinh ward, often chooses the park as a stopover between trips. The job requires maintaining continuous network connection to receive rides and transfer money, but it is not uncommon for drivers to encounter sudden capacity outage problems or forget to extend the package.
Experiencing authentication operations at the park, Mr. Hieu commented: "Free Wi-Fi coverage is really very helpful for drivers when there are connection problems or they want to save personal data during rest hours.
Bridge to bring online public services closer to the people
Assessing the operating efficiency, Mr. Phan Ngoc Phat, Vice Chairman of Cho Quan Ward People's Committee, said that after a month of putting the public Wi-Fi system integrating the online public service portal and the Digital Citizen application into operation at Au Lac Park, the locality recorded an average of 210-350 accesses per day.
What we are interested in is not only that people can use free Wi-Fi, but more importantly, through the public wifi system integrated with the online public service portal, people can access the online public service portal, the Digital Citizen application and digital utilities more conveniently," Mr. Phat said.
Regarding technical infrastructure, participating businesses are responsible for equipment systems, transmission lines and technical support; local authorities coordinate to monitor to ensure stable access. In particular, information security and personal data protection are strictly controlled in accordance with regulations, limiting unnecessary information collection, helping people feel completely secure when logging in.
From the positive results at Au Lac Park, Cho Quan ward plans to study expanding the model to community activity points, parks and areas with a large population in the area. "We determine that the expansion is not only to increase Wi-Fi hotspots, but must be linked to the actual usage needs of people and accompanying digital utilities," Mr. Phat emphasized.
In the coming time, the ward will study integrating more utilities such as searching for administrative procedures, quickly connecting to the Online Public Service Portal and the Digital Citizen application, receiving feedback - recommendations from people, providing information about local activities and guiding people to use online public services.
