On the 4th day of the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026, vessel QB-92668-TS with a capacity of 822CV departed from Nam Cua Viet fishing port (Nam Cua Viet commune, Quang Tri province) to go to sea.
The ship went to a sea area 40 nautical miles from the shore to catch seafood, but when it reached the fishing grounds, it encountered unfavorable weather. Mr. Ho Van Quoc (born in 1982, residing in Dong Trach commune, Quang Tri province) said that due to bad weather, the ship did not cast nets. Fortunately, the weather gradually warmed up, Mr. Quoc and 8 fishermen decided to cast one net. When pulling the cast net up, Mr. Quoc and 8 fishermen on board were very happy, because they harvested about 300kg of squid and 5 tons of grouper.

Immediately after that, boat QB-92668-TS fenced off the waves and went ashore, and at 10 am on February 24, when it docked at Nam Cua Viet fishing port, traders were already waiting. Squid and fish were transported ashore by fishermen and were immediately purchased.
In this sea trip, Mr. Quoc spent about 45 million VND on labor, food and fuel, minus all kinds of expenses, he earned about 40 million VND.
The 4-day trip, even though only one net was cast, catching squid and fish like that is already convenient" - Mr. Quoc said.

Accompanying vessel QB-92668-TS, fisherman Nguyen Viet Hung (born 1964, residing in Dong Trach commune) said that he has been in the sea for more than 20 years. With the first sea trip of the year, fishermen often call it "opening the sea", when "opening the sea" is successful, that year will be favorable.
Currently, the weather is very good, so the ship docks to sell squid and fish, refuels and food will go offshore immediately. This year, hopefully everything will be favorable" - Mr. Hung said.

Also going to sea on the 4th day of Tet, Mr. Mai Chinh's fishing boat (born in 1983, residing in Dong Trach commune) with 7 crew members caught 1.5 tons of squid and grouper. Near noon on February 24, the fish and squid were transported to Nam Cua Viet fishing port to sell to traders. In this sea trip, Mr. Chinh's boat earned about 150 million VND, minus expenses, the profit was quite good, bringing joy to the boat owner and fishermen.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province said that before, during and after the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, taking advantage of favorable weather, fishermen actively went offshore to stick to the sea, organized production effectively, seafood exploitation output in the first 2 months of the year is estimated at 15,941 tons, an increase of 0.6% compared to the same period last year. Especially, some ships of people in North Quang Tri went offshore to fish and achieved high output, revenue reached 600 million VND/sea trip, after deducting all expenses, the ship owner made a profit of about 200 million VND.
The first offshore trips of the year that fishermen catch valuable seafood not only bring income, but also bring a smooth start to expect a more favorable crop season" - Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh shared.
