Launching inspections of businesses selling laughing gas and banned substances

Late on January 1, 2025, the People's Committee of Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, in coordination with the Ward Police, inspected and handled businesses containing laughing gas, electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco and other prohibited substances.

This activity aims to implement Resolution 173/2024/QH15, which officially took effect from January 1, 2025, on the comprehensive ban on production, trading, import, transportation, storage and use of these products.

Authorities have inspected entertainment service establishments and businesses in the ward regarding compliance with regulations on preventing the harmful effects of drugs and prohibited substances according to Resolution 173.

Upon inspection, some locations that were still selling laughing gas were fined and their exhibits were confiscated. Authorities also took urine samples to test for drugs at some locations.

Mr. Pham Xuan Tuy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, said that in addition to inspecting and handling violations, the ward also requires business establishments to sign a commitment to comply with regulations such as: Not trading or selling goods prohibited by the State, including electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco; not trading in goods of unknown origin; not trading, buying, selling, or storing laughing gas (N2O gas).

Business households must strictly comply with the provisions of the law, not allowing social evils such as drugs, prostitution, gambling, and other illegal acts to occur.

Representatives of business establishments are required to strictly comply with regulations and take full responsibility for any violations.

Pham Ngu Lao Ward also strengthens handling of cases of encroachment on sidewalks and street vending to improve urban aesthetics in the area.
