Recently, some areas in Da Nang City such as vacant plots of land, sparsely populated areas... have become hot spots for illegal dumping of garbage and debris. Domestic waste, construction scrap, and even damaged household items are thrown everywhere, not only causing environmental pollution but also potentially affecting public health and traffic safety.
According to records, on Tan Trao Street (Thanh Khe Ward), garbage extended a section of the road, giving off a strong stench, especially on hot days. Household waste, construction soap, and even damaged furniture are thrown along the road by people. Many sections of the road are covered with garbage, causing traffic obstruction and spoiling the urban beauty.

Many people living near the area are upset because this situation has been going on for a long time but has not been thoroughly handled. Notably, this area has few residents, so many people consider this a safe place to illegally dump garbage without fear of detection or handling.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a resident living near Tan Trao Street, shared: Every morning passing by this road, I see piles of garbage and an unpleasant stench. Even though there were days when I traveled, there was a canal but I still heard the stench. The elderly and children in the area are often affected by flies, mosquitoes and polluted air. We really hope the government will soon take strong measures to completely handle it, because if we clean up the day before, the next day the garbage will appear again".
Ms. Hoa also added that most of the garbage is not discharged by local people, but is mainly from other places to be illegally dumped at night or when there are no people.

Ms. Tran Tuong Van - Chairman of Thanh Khe Ward People's Committee, said that the ward has repeatedly organized forces to collect and clean up garbage in this area. However, just a few days later, garbage reappeared. To completely handle this situation, in the coming time, the ward plans to install surveillance cameras, while strengthening inspection and strictly punishing violations.
The widespread littering on Tan Trao Street as well as other areas not only causes serious environmental pollution but also directly affects the lives of people and the urban face of Da Nang City. Launching a cleanup is only a temporary solution if there is no close coordination between the government and the people's awareness.
