On July 1, the working delegation of Military Region 4 led by Major General Le Van Trung - Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region, Head of the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Military Region 4, conducted a field survey in the Cau Nhi area (Nam Hai Lang commune, Quang Tri province) to inspect and evaluate information sources serving the repatriation work.
According to a report by the Military Command (CHQS) of Quang Tri province, the Cau Nhi area was the place where the fierce battle of Battalion 6, Regiment 88, Division 308 took place in May 1972. Many sources from witnesses, people and historical researchers coincided with the results of the field survey, identifying many locations with suspicious bases containing martyrs' remains.
From 1992 to now, functional forces and people have collected 19 sets of remains of martyrs here, in which the identity of a martyr belonging to Battalion 6, Regiment 88, Division 308 has been identified.

Notably, the recent survey results using ground-penetrating radar equipment at the ancient Cau Nhi battlefield have detected some unusual geological signals underground. This is an important scientific basis, opening up a new direction and creating a solid foundation for specialized agencies to deploy further excavation and repatriation campaigns.
To urgently clarify these unusual signs, the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Military Region 4 requests the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command to continue to review and carefully verify information sources, and immediately organize forces to search in areas with unusual radar signals and suspicious locations. At the same time, coordinate to organize seminars with witnesses, veterans, and historical researchers to supplement information and improve the effectiveness of gratitude work.
Also on this occasion, the working delegation of Military Region 4 came to offer incense and flowers to commemorate heroic martyrs at the Temple of Martyrs of Regiment 88, Division 308 in Cau Nhi and National Martyrs' Cemetery on Road 9.
At the same time, the delegation visited, inquired and presented gifts to the forces performing the task of taking samples, digitizing information, and handing over samples of martyrs' remains at the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Road 9 to serve DNA testing. This is a key activity within the 500-day and night campaign to search, collect and identify martyrs' remains that lack information, meeting the practical aspirations of relatives of martyrs' families across the country.
