On August 19, Lien Khuong International Airport officially resumed operations after more than 5 months of suspension for repair and upgrade of the airfield area.
Restoring many air routes
On the first day, the airport is expected to receive 28 flights. The inaugural flight numbered VN1380 of Vietnam Airlines, the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat, landed at 7:05 am and was welcomed by a water cannon salute ceremony.

Mr. Dang Anh Tuan - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines - said that the airline has proactively prepared resources to resume flights to Da Lat as soon as the airport plans to resume operations.
In the initial phase, Lien Khuong International Airport is expected to reach 36-40 flights/day, serving about 6,800 passengers/day.

Domestic routes from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong and Can Tho are restored.
In which, the Da Lat - Can Tho route is reopened with a frequency of 7 flights/week, creating a direct connection between Lam Dong and the Mekong Delta.

In the international flight network, the Da Lat - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) route is expected to operate 4 flights/week; the Da Lat - Singapore route is expected to reopen from December 2026 with a frequency of 3 flights/week.
Opening up more room for development
In the first 7 months of 2026, although Lien Khuong International Airport temporarily suspended operations, Lam Dong still welcomed about 14.2 million visitors, tourism revenue reached more than 40,000 billion VND, an increase of 22% compared to the same period in 2025.


The resumption of Lien Khuong's operation is expected to meet travel needs, unlock passenger flows, promote tourism, trade, services and strengthen regional linkages.
The Lien Khuong International Airport Repair Project has a total investment of more than 1,000 billion VND, invested by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

According to ACV leaders, after repairs, the runway and taxiway system are upgraded. Thereby, contributing to ensuring operational safety and the ability to receive Code E aircraft.
This is the basis for expanding domestic and international flight networks, strengthening connectivity between Lam Dong and major economic and tourist centers.

Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee - said that Lien Khuong International Airport is an important aviation gateway of the Central Highlands region.
In the last months of the year, Lam Dong organizes many cultural, tourism, and sports activities, including Lam Dong Tourism Month 2026 and the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival.
The airport's resumption is expected to create conditions to attract tourists, expand the market and promote the economy.

Lam Dong will continue to coordinate with airlines and tourism businesses to expand routes, targeting international markets such as Korea, Singapore, Thailand, China and Japan.
In the long term, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to create a foundation for Lien Khuong International Airport to reach level 4E by 2030, with a vision to 2050.
