According to Phu Quoc International Airport, in the first 7 months of the year, the Airport served more than 4.48 million passenger trips, an increase of more than 1.23 million trips, equivalent to nearly 38% compared to the same period in 2025. During this time, the total number of take-offs and landings reached 27,919 flights, an increase of more than 8,500 flights, equivalent to nearly 44%. The above results mark a historic high output of the Airport.
In conditions of strong output growth, operations at the Port are still maintained smoothly. Operating units regularly review service plans in the terminal area, parking yards and access traffic flows, and strengthen coordination with airlines, security control forces and service providers to limit congestion during peak hours.
It is worth mentioning that the growth momentum took place in the context of the Port simultaneously deploying the expansion of investment, serving APEC 2027 High-Level Week and the long-term development needs of Pearl Island. The entire section of runway No. 2, 3,300 m long, was completed in just about 8 months.

This is the first and most important item to pave the way for a next huge infrastructure complex including: VIP terminal, terminal T2, upgrading runway No. 1...
Mr. Nguyen Ba Quan, Director of Phu Quoc International Airport shared: "This is a very meaningful construction item in a very tight time, complex weather conditions and especially we have to both organize construction in conditions and operate. As we know, in 2025 as well as entering 2026, the operating frequency of Phu Quoc International Airport will increase sharply in terms of take-off and landing volume as well as passenger volume.
On the local side, An Giang province and Phu Quoc special zone regularly visit, inspect the site and give gifts to encourage the construction force, praising the spirit of working overnight, organizing 3 shifts and 4 teams of units at the construction site.
Recently, to recognize and commend the "overcoming sun and winning rain" working spirit of the collective of engineers and workers at the construction site, Comrade Dinh Van Noi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone and Comrade Ngo Cong Thuc - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directly came to inspect, give gifts and encourage the construction forces.
Provincial leaders deeply shared the hardships of the workforce when having to continuously construct in unusual rainy and storm weather, and at the same time reminded that construction speed must be ensured, but safety is paramount. During construction, attention must be paid to the drainage system, not allowing flooding to affect people's lives and the image of Phu Quoc tourism. Provincial leaders and the special zone always accompany and assign forces to remove obstacles on the spot.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Phu Quoc Special Zone Dinh Van Noi also reminded construction units to calculate a time frame for weather reserves, always maintain a full team of consultants and supervisors at the site to ensure the quality of the project meets international standards.
Runway No. 2 is a key item of the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion investment project serving APEC 2027. With a length of 3,300 m, width of 45 m, meeting ICAO Code E standards, the runway is capable of regularly receiving wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 787, Airbus A350, Boeing 777 and Code F aircraft when necessary - an important condition for Phu Quoc to welcome private jets and international commercial flights from 21 member economies and thousands of international delegates in APEC 2027.
Putting runway No. 2 into operation also opens the way to continue upgrading existing runway No. 1 to a length of 3,500 m, gradually forming a system of two runways meeting international standards.
