The above information was announced by a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction at a regular socio-economic press conference on the afternoon of July 24.
According to the Department of Construction, from July 15, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) will repair the expansion joints of Long Thanh bridge, on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
During the construction period, the management unit closed a lane on the bridge in the direction from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City.
This causes traffic on highways and neighboring routes to be often congested for a long time, especially during rush hours and on weekends.

To minimize the impact on people's travel, the Department of Construction has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Police to organize traffic flow and guide alternative routes such as National Highway 1, National Highway 51, Cat Lai ferry, Vung Tau - Can Gio sea ferry route...
At the same time, the Department of Construction has also worked directly with VEC to promote the repair progress, ensuring completion as soon as possible.
It is expected that the repair of the Long Thanh bridge expansion joints will be completed and the road surface will be returned before 12:00 on July 25.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is 55 km long, put into operation since 2015 with a scale of 4 lanes, and is a vital traffic axis connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Southeast and Central Highlands regions.
In the long term, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway is preparing to be expanded to meet future traffic needs, especially when Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 comes into operation in 2026.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha approved the investor - Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) to carry out emergency investment procedures, starting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway expansion project on August 19. The project is expected to be basically completed in 2026.
The expanded expressway section is 21 km long, stretching from Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 to the intersection with Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway.
In particular, the section from Ring Road 2 to Ring Road 3 will be expanded to 8 lanes; the section from Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection will be upgraded to 10 lanes.
The total investment capital of the project is up to VND 15,720 billion, including interest costs during the construction period, all mobilized by VEC.

At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) will start the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway connecting road (from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2) in September 2025, to be completed in 2026.
The project has a total length of 3.2 km, with a total investment of more than 915 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
In terms of scale, the route will be expanded from 4 to 8 lanes. In which, the road surface will be expanded on both sides, each side will be 4.75 m, bringing the total width to 36 m.
The bridge section, including Muong Kenh Bridge and Do Xuan Hop Overpass, will also be expanded on both sides, each side 5.25 m, raising the total width of the bridge to 37 m.
This project, along with major traffic projects being implemented such as An Phu intersection and My Thuy intersection, will create a complete, interconnected network, improving connectivity capacity for the entire eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
