Production land, people's houses and even the underground cable line pulling electricity to the Ly Son special zone in the area bordering Phuoc Thien and Thanh Thuy villages, Van Tuong commune are being seriously eroded by high tides. Since storm No. 13, 2025, the fear of landslides for people here has increased many times over.

Landslides are increasingly encroaching deeper into the shore. Every time high tides rise, the sea sweeps away a few more meters of land, directly threatening land, houses and people's property. About 400m of coastline at the border between the sea dykes of Phuoc Thien and Thanh Thuy villages has not yet been invested in construction, making this area completely "open" to sea waves, and people cannot settle down.
Mr. Le Thanh Long, residing in Van Tuong commune, Quang Ngai province) worriedly said: "After the recent storm and recent high tides, sea waves are very large, encroaching on people's land. I propose that the State pay attention to investing in building the embankment section from Phuoc Thien to Thanh Thuy to prevent waves and keep land for people to feel secure in living, doing business and developing the economy.
More worryingly, the power pole of the underground cable line pulling electricity to the Ly Son special zone located in this area has been eroded, encroaching close to the base of the pole. The underground cable system buried under the sand dunes has also been eroded, and has only been temporarily repaired.
Van Tuong Commune People's Committee has repeatedly proposed to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to advise the Provincial People's Committee to declare a state of emergency for the underground cable project pulling electricity to Ly Son in order to have a sustainable handling plan.

Mr. Phan Vu Dong Quan - Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Power Company said: "We have invited relevant units such as consultants, specialized units of the Sub-Department of Irrigation, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Van Tuong Commune People's Committee to discuss long-term remedial plans and agree that we must invest in landslide prevention dykes in the near future.
Sharing the same concern, Mr. Ung Dinh Hien, Chairman of Van Tuong Commune People's Committee, Quang Ngai province, emphasized: "We propose that levels, especially provincial levels, pay attention to investing in a dyke system combined with protecting power poles to pull electricity to Ly Son, in order to ensure stability and safety for power supply to the island, because this is an extremely urgent issue.
While waiting for fundamental solutions, the temporary embankment sections built by people themselves are no longer strong enough to withstand the increasingly unusual developments of weather and high tides. The expectation of a solid wave-breaking embankment is still the wearying waiting of the people here, to settle down in the harsh sea.
