According to the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Transport, the landslide on National Highway 279, at Km 78+650, appeared on the afternoon of September 12 with a length of more than 100 m and a height of 15 m, completely burying the roadway. As of this morning (September 13), the landslide volume is still continuing to increase, causing traffic disruption on the route.
To ensure traffic safety, immediately after the landslide occurred, authorities deployed forces to the scene to direct traffic, put up warning signs at both ends of the landslide, and asked people not to travel on National Highway 279, the section passing through this area.
According to the recommendation, people and vehicles traveling from Hanoi to and from Lao Cai to the center of Bao Yen district should follow the direction: From Pho Lu intersection (Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway) - National Highway 4E - National Highway 70 - Pho Rang town.
