On the morning of September 20, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Thai Luong Thien - Chairman of Yen Na Commune People's Committee (Nghe An) said that from early morning, local authorities had mobilized forces and vehicles to urgently overcome the consequences of the serious landslide that occurred in the afternoon of September 19.

I am present at the scene of the landslide. The volume of soil and rocks is very large, it is expected that it will take many hours to repair it. We are focusing forces and vehicles to quickly clear the road and relieve the isolation for people. Fortunately, the landslide did not cause any casualties" - Mr. Thien said.

Previously, at about 4:30 pm on September 19, a large amount of soil and rock from the mountainside suddenly slid down to the area outside Huoi Pai village, Yen Na commune, burying a section of provincial road 543C. This is the only road connecting Huoi Pai village and Cha Lum village with the outside.

The landslide caused 2 villages with about 309 households, more than 1,200 people, mostly Thai ethnic people, to be isolated.

Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities cordoned off the dangerous area, deployed warning forces, and prevented people and vehicles from approaching the landslide point to ensure safety.

Due to prolonged heavy rain, the risk of continued landslides in hilly areas in the area is still high. By the evening of September 19, Yen Na commune authorities had organized the relocation of 57 households located in landslide-prone areas to safe places.
