On July 5, Buon Kuop Hydropower Company informed that the unit had issued a notice of initial overflow discharge at Buon Kuop and Serepok 3 hydropower reservoirs.
In recent days, in the basin of Buon Tua Srah, Buon Kuop and Sorop 3 reservoirs (Dak Lak province), moderate to heavy rain has appeared over a wide area, leading to a significant increase in water flow to the reservoir. The water level of the lakes is at elevation higher or approximately the highest water level before the flood season.
The Buon Kuop and Sorok 3 reservoirs are at risk of having to release water to regulate the overflow for the first time to ensure the lake water level is maintained at a stable level.
Mr. Nguyen Duc - Deputy Director of Buon Kuop Hydropower Company - said: "The unit has requested local authorities to disseminate a plan to release overflowing reservoirs so that people in the downstream area can grasp information and proactively prevent. People need to proactively harvest agricultural products, seafood and crops, not leave farming tools in low-lying areas along the riverbank.
For tourism exploitation units, it is necessary to monitor weather developments and information on reservoir operations to proactively prevent and ensure the safety of tourists".
