In the late afternoon of July 22, leaders of Muong Nhe commune, Dien Bien province visited and encouraged the family with two young children who died in the lightning strike that occurred in Xi Ma village.
Information from the Commune People's Committee, in the afternoon of the same day, the Xi Ma village area experienced heavy thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. A lightning bolt hit Ms. Giang Thi Bia (born 1990) and her three children.
As a result, Ms. Bia's two children, Vu Thi Nh (born 2015) and Vu Thi L (born 2021), died on the spot. Ms. Bia was slightly injured and taken to medical care by people, her health has now stabilized.

Immediately after receiving the information, Ms. Lo Thi Kieu Oanh - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Nhe commune; Mr. Phan Van Uyen - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee and representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune directly went to the victim's family to visit, share condolences, and encourage relatives to overcome the loss soon.
Representatives of local authorities also shared with the family about the painful incident, and at the same time directed forces to support the family to overcome the consequences.
The incident once again sounded an alarm bell about the risk of accidents caused by lightning strikes during the rainy and thunderstorm season in mountainous areas.
Functional agencies recommend that people regularly monitor weather developments, proactively find safe shelters when thunderstorms appear, and absolutely do not stand in open areas, under tall trees or near electrical conductors to limit the risks caused by lightning.
