On September 16, at the press conference of An Giang province, the People's Committee of Nui Cam commune informed about the tourism situation and handling of violations related to Nui Cam tourist area in the area.
Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong, Vice Chairman of Nui Cam Commune People's Committee, said that the locality has focused on regularly directing specialized sectors and functional forces to strengthen state management of land, construction and tourism service business activities in Nui Cam. Local authorities have organized reviews, inspections, and statistics of cases of unlicensed construction, repair of houses, tents, shops and spontaneous works; and at the same time classify and handle cases under their authority.
Mr. Cuong informed that the total population on Nui Cam is 883 households (3,177 people), of which 694 households are permanent residents (2,733 people), 51 households are temporary residents (116 people) and the number of temporary residents without temporary residence books is 138 households (328 people). The area of forest land on Nui Cam is 2039.41 ha, mainly protection forest land.
The majority of residents on Nui Cam lived stably before 2002, mainly farming, gardening, growing fruit trees, some households combined with tourism services and cases of establishing accommodation facilities in separate locations in the area on their cultivated land.
The locality has strengthened inspection and supervision, proactively grasped the situation at the grassroots level, and at the same time controlled the bringing of materials, vehicles, and machinery to the Nui Cam area to prevent construction acts that do not comply with regulations from early on.
Currently, the commune has established and consolidated an inter-sectoral inspection team, and at the same time maintains the Inspection and Supervision Team, grasping information on construction order on Nui Cam, the Construction Material Transportation Control Team to Nui Cam, the Mobile Inspection Team for transporting construction materials and forces in hamlets to regularly inspect, detect and handle violations.
For newly arising construction violations, the locality's point of view is to detect early, prevent them from the beginning and resolutely handle them according to regulations. For projects that have existed before, the locality continues to review and classify each case to have appropriate handling directions in accordance with dossiers and legal regulations, Mr. Cuong said.
According to reports, there are 60 violations subject to remedial measures. To date, 44 cases have completed the restoration and restoration of the status quo, and 16 cases have not been fully completed. The locality is continuing to review dossiers, urge and organize the implementation of handling measures for the remaining cases. Among them, there are 10 cases of illegal constructions related to accommodation activities. To date, 3 cases have been remedied, and 7 cases have not yet completed the restoration of the status quo.
In the near future, the Commune People's Committee will coordinate with relevant departments and branches and the Forest Management Board to develop and complete the Sustainable Forest Development Project and the Plan for developing eco-tourism, resorts, and recreation under the forest canopy to submit to competent authorities for approval. After being approved, organizations and individuals with tourism business needs will carry out procedures for leasing forest environment and carry out procedures in accordance with legal regulations to operate. However, all tourism development activities must strictly comply with the provisions of law on forestry and land, Mr. Cuong informed.
