The inter-sectoral inspection team of Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang) has just organized a surprise inspection of the compliance with legal regulations for organizations and individuals doing business in sports tourism services at sea. The activity aims to contribute to ensuring a safe and healthy tourism business environment, improving the quality of services serving tourists. Thereby, it also aims to strengthen the effectiveness of state management and promptly detect and handle violations in the field of sports tourism.
The inspection team said that they have conducted surprise inspections of the compliance with legal regulations for sports tourism service business establishments and types of services that may affect the lives and health of tourists. The inspection content focuses on business conditions and operating licenses of services such as coral diving, tourist canoe, water motorbikes, and paragliding.

Through inspection, it was found that most business establishments strictly comply with the provisions of law. However, the delegation also discovered some cases that did not fully meet business conditions, mainly in types of water motorbikes, tourist canoes and paragliding. For violations, the delegation made records, suspended operations and handled them according to the provisions of law.
Ms. L.T.T. H, a sports game business at sea, said: "After inspection and propaganda, I also complied fully and stopped operating. I also realize that inspection is very necessary to ensure safety for tourists, especially as APEC is about to be held in Phu Quoc.
According to statistics, there are currently more than 100 canoes operating in the field of transporting tourists to visit the islands. Among these, about 70 canoe vehicles are qualified to operate according to SB level, the rest are not qualified to exploit and transport passengers. Through the inspection, the inter-sectoral inspection team made records and suspended operations for vehicles that do not fully meet the conditions according to the provisions of law.
Senior Lieutenant Ngo Hoang Hao, Phu Quoc Traffic Police Station said: "There are still some vehicles that do not meet traffic conditions, regarding this issue, the inter-sectoral inspection team resolutely made a record of handling and forced the business owner as well as the vehicle owner to suspend the operation of these vehicles.
Phu Quoc is a destination attracting many tourists, especially with types of sea-based experiential tourism such as canoes to take visitors to visit the island, coral diving, paragliding, and water motorbikes. However, these are also services with high requirements for safety conditions, if operating improperly, it may potentially affect the lives and health of tourists.
Over the past time, in some other localities, incidents related to sports tourism activities at sea have occurred, not ensuring safety conditions, especially in types such as paragliding and water motorbikes. Therefore, strengthening inspection, timely rectification and strict handling of violations demonstrates the determination of the Phu Quoc special zone government to tighten management of conditional business services. Thereby contributing to building a safe and civilized tourism environment, improving service quality, towards sustainable tourism development and preparing for APEC 2027 Summit Week.
