The People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District has just submitted a document to the Hanoi Department of Finance on the assignment of the task of preparing a report proposing the investment policy for the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square expansion project.
Accordingly, the total area of planning research and renovation of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square is about 1.2 hectares. The North borders Hang Gai and Cau Go streets, the South borders Hoan Kiem Lake and Thuy Ta house, the East borders Hoan Kiem Lake street, the West borders Hong Van - Long Van building.
According to the H1-1B Urban Zoning Plan, at a scale of 1/2,000 approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2021, the land of Ham Thang Hoa building has the function of public land.
It is expected that after demolishing the Shark Dock building, the land will still use public functions. It is expected to arrange an entrance to the basement and the square stage.
The People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District also proposed that the Department of Finance report to the People's Committee of Hanoi City to assign the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District to prepare a report proposing the investment policy for the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square expansion project.
The authorities will demolish the Shark Dock building, move underground works (if any), and restore appropriate infrastructure in sync with the landscape of the area. The total investment of the project is about 18 billion VND from the city budget.
It is expected that the demolition of this building will be completed before April 30.
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture said that the Shark Ham building, after being demolished, will help connect the old town, Hoan Kiem Lake and some adjacent streets such as Dinh Liet, Cau Go, creating a complete traffic space, this will be a traffic square, serving the people.
"After being decorated, combined with the surrounding space, Hanoi will have a square of 12,000m2, this is a rare space to serve the people and major festivals of the city as well as the country" - a representative of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture shared.
