On the evening of February 2nd, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction responded to the proposal of the Department of Planning and Architecture regarding the temporary suspension of embellishment work in the Ben Thanh market and Ho Con Rua area.
According to the Department of Construction, the renovation of Ben Thanh market relic and non-relic works such as towers, lakes, walkways in the Turtle Lake area, along with the renovation of facades in the above areas in Ho Chi Minh City, has created a clean, beautiful and fresh landscape for the city center area.
After renovation, this area received the attention of the people and became a check-in destination in recent days.
Regarding the preservation of relic works such as Ben Thanh market and train station, the renovation is carried out in the direction of preserving and upgrading the quality of the works; painting in the original old color, combining cleaning and preserving architectural details.
During the implementation process, the Department of Construction received many positive feedbacks as well as comments and exchanges. The Department of Construction said that it is always receptive and listens, and has organized on-site assessments and inspections and exchanged many times with sponsors about adjusting paint color.
The shape and paint color at the square in front of Ben Thanh market are currently only a temporary option, implemented within the traffic island area, while waiting for the implementation of the overall construction plan combining landscape square, traffic and urban underground construction center. The shape and paint color on the square can be easily changed according to different styles and times.
The Department of Construction assessed that the embellishment of works and streets has been actively implemented by the sponsoring unit, showing enthusiasm for the common goal of beautifying, embellishing and upgrading the urban architectural space of the central area of Ho Chi Minh City; and at the same time in accordance with regulations on preserving architectural relic works, harmonizing between cultural and aesthetic elements, between memory and modernity.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved Khang Dien Housing Investment and Business Joint Stock Company to sponsor and implement the embellishment of 7 roads, traffic junctions and public works, including: the square area in front of Ben Thanh market, Nga 6 Phu Dong roundabout, Ho Con Rua roundabout; Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Ham Nghi, Hai Ba Trung streets; and assigned the Department of Construction to take the lead in organizing the implementation.
