On January 19, hundreds of workers and many motorized vehicles simultaneously launched a campaign to renovate Ben Thanh market, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street and key areas in the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

Recorded by reporters, the construction atmosphere in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City is very urgent. The construction unit has proceeded to hang ropes and erect safe barriers around the Ben Thanh market area and the front square.
Accordingly, the implemented items include: painting new walls outside the market, keeping the lines and decorative motifs, replacing damaged street lights outside the market. Traffic junctions and squares in front of Ben Thanh market will paint road markings, walkways, and decorate squares in front of the market.
At the same time, along Nguyen Hue street, many lifts and specialized materials have also been gathered, ready for the renovation of the facades of buildings.

Representatives of the construction unit said that as early as January 18, manpower and machinery have been mobilized to the maximum. The goal is to ensure safety, aesthetics and on schedule as committed to the city leaders.
This activity is part of the plan to renovate 7 roads, intersections and public works that has been approved by the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The areas include: Ben Thanh Square and market, Nga 6 Phu Dong roundabout, Con Rua Lake roundabout, along with Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Ham Nghi and Hai Ba Trung streets.

According to the plan agreed upon by the Department of Construction, the Ben Thanh market area will have new exterior walls painted but still retain the original architecture lines and motifs. Damaged wall lighting systems will also be replaced.
Nearby buildings such as the headquarters of Saigon Railway Transport Company and building 181 Ham Nghi are also newly painted in the existing color.

For the Con Rua Lake roundabout, the central tower will be repainted with brighter tones, combined with sidewalk cleaning and planting more trees. Similarly, the Phu Dong Thien Vuong statue at Nga 6 Phu Dong will also be newly painted.
In addition, on central roads such as Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Hai Ba Trung and Ham Nghi, workers will proceed to repaint the facades of some buildings along the route, repaint road markings, curbs and concrete walkways.
It is expected that all projects will be completed before February 10th (ie, December 23rd of the lunar calendar) to serve people's spring travel.
