Public toilet but locked
Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road is located in Lien Chieu and Thanh Khe districts, Da Nang city, connecting the city center with Hoa Khanh and Lien Chieu industrial parks. It opens up many opportunities for the tourism industry, significantly changing the face of the city, improving the lives of local people. This is also a place for local people to exercise and improve their health. However, along these dozens of kilometers of coastal road, there are only a few public toilets. Mr. Nguyen Van Son, a resident of Lien Chieu district, reflected: "I don't understand why these toilets are locked and cannot be used. Therefore, many people don't even know that they are toilets."
Meanwhile, most of these toilets are newly built and firmly installed. This makes many people extremely upset. "Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road has a lot of people jogging and exercising in the early morning and late afternoon. This street also has a lot of foreign tourists stopping at this beach when going from Hue to Da Nang and vice versa," said Mr. Tu Van Tuyen, a resident of Lien Chieu district.
According to Mr. Tuyen, many tourists when traveling to this beach cannot find a public toilet so they have to get back in the car and continue.
Public toilets will soon be available.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Dai Nghia, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, said that the unit is now ready to receive the handover from the units to deploy and put public toilets into use. "When constructing a number of projects carried out by the 220kV Power Line Management Board on Nguyen Tat Thanh line, there were some problems, so the old toilets had to be dismantled. However, the 5 new toilets that have just been rebuilt by this unit on Nguyen Tat Thanh beach line are currently stuck with some procedures, so we have not been able to receive the handover from this unit," said Mr. Tran Dai Nghia. According to Mr. Nghia, the unit is currently urging the relevant units to complete the related procedures to soon put the public toilets into operation.
At the 6th People's Council meeting with voters of Da Nang City in early November, Mr. Dang Nam Son, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City, affirmed that Da Nang City currently has 47 public toilets. All of these public toilets are assigned to localities and management units. The People's Committee of Da Nang City has requested the Department to coordinate with localities to review, renovate and upgrade existing works. At the same time, public toilets are added at new planning locations. In particular, attention is paid to key streets with high population density.
