On June 11, the People's Committee of Son La City carried out land recovery enforcement against Mr. Nguyen Duc Hop's household (Group 3, Chieng Coi Ward) to hand over the site to serve the Project to urgently handle local flooding in the area.
The project is being implemented in areas that are often flooded such as Bo An village bridge (Chieng Coi ward), group 11 (Quyet Tam ward) and group 1 (Quyet Thang ward), aiming to clear the flow from Chieng Sinh to Nam La stream. To date, 17/18 households whose land has been recovered have accepted compensation and handed over the site. Mr. Nguyen Duc Hop's household alone did not comply with the decision to reclaim 419.4m2 of land.

In addition, from January 2020 to present, Mr. Hop's household has arbitrarily encroached on 259.6m2 of State-managed land in Buon village to build a corrugated iron house. The local government has repeatedly mobilized and dialogueed, but this household has not cooperated.
In that situation, the People's Committee of Son La City issued a decision on enforcement. The enforcement work was implemented in accordance with the order and legal regulations, with the close coordination of relevant units. The authorities have dismantled the construction, inventored assets on the recovered land area and the encroached land, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles participating.

Mr. Hop's family will have to bear all the costs of enforcement, administrative sanctions, forced to restore the land to its original state before encroachment and return the illegal profits gained.
Vice Chairman of Son La City People's Committee Nguyen Van Than - Head of the enforcement board - affirmed: "Extortion is carried out publicly, democratically, and in accordance with the law, and is the final solution when households do not comply with the handover of land to implement the project for the common good of the community".
