Russian Ambassador to the US Alexander Darchiev said the next round of talks between the Russian and US delegations will be held in Moscow in the near future.
He shared this information with state news agency TASS, marking a change of location from Istanbul (Türkiye). Mr. Darchiev emphasized that the process of restoring relations between Russia and the US is still "very far away".
The conflict in Ukraine is seen as a key factor causing the most fierce confrontation between Moscow and the West since the peak of the Cold War. In this context, senior diplomats in Moscow and Washington have admitted that they cannot remember the last time bilateral relations have fallen to the current worst situation.
President Trump has repeatedly warned of the risk of the Russia-Ukraine conflict escalating into a world war if there is no timely control solution.
The announcement of the upcoming talks in Moscow shows that the two sides still maintain diplomatic contact channels, although the relationship is at its lowest level in decades. However, the prospect of making significant progress in negotiations is still a big question mark, in the context of continued barriers from within the US politics and the confrontation stance between the two sides.
