Creating a temporary drainage channel The Western Ring Road Project from National Highway 14B to Ho Chi Minh Road - Phase 1 has basically completed construction items and held a traffic opening ceremony on May 13, 2024.
The Da Nang Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (PMU) continues to urge contractors to inspect and review existing problems and obstacles to overcome, complete and organize acceptance, handover and settlement of project investment capital.
However, in the Bau Da field area (Dong Lam village, Hoa Phu commune) - next to the Western Ring Road of Da Nang City, after a long period of rain, rainwater cannot drain, leading to stagnation.Water overflows into people's houses, affecting daily life.
People are upset and have reported many times in meetings with voters. The People's Committee of Hoa Phu commune has sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Hoa Vang district regarding the settlement of people's complaints in Dong Lam village. The Project Management Board has checked and responded.
"At the location where voters reported flooding in Bau Da Lake in Dong Lam Village (Hoa Phu Commune), the construction unit has completed the foot of the tray and covered the talus roof to ensure water flow," the Project Management Board said. However, the stagnant water has caused many houses to be flooded for a long time.
At a recent meeting with voters in Hoa Phu Commune, a representative of the City People's Council directed the People's Committee of Hoa Phu Commune to preside over and invite relevant parties to assess the cause of flooding in Bau Da Lake in order to find a thorough solution.
Mr. Nguyen Van Buu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Phu Commune, said: "We and the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Da Nang Traffic Works had a meeting. In the short term, the two units have coordinated to send machinery down to create a drainage channel. In the long term, we will continue to study and propose a more feasible solution."
People suffer due to prolonged local flooding. Mr. Nguyen Nhan's family in Dong Lam village, Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city has been facing many difficulties in daily life for over a month now because the family's kitchen and livestock area have been flooded since the rains in early November.
The rising water has stagnated for many days without draining, disrupting the lives of people in this area.
"The rising rainwater has flooded the entire garden, trees, chicken coop and kitchen. But the water cannot drain, stagnant for a month now, making all activities in the family more difficult. The whole family had to temporarily move to the upper house to cook, but for personal hygiene, they still have to wade down to the bathroom area. The chicken coop was flooded, so I placed wooden boards high up so that the chickens have a place to live.Every day, we wade in the muddy water to feed the chickens," said Mr. Nhan.
Recently, when the water gradually receded from the kitchen, Mr. Nhan's family cleared the mud to move things down to live normally. However, right next to the kitchen, the water is still there, the water is cloudy and has a foul smell due to being stagnant for a long time.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Bao, Head of Dong Lam village, this year's rainy season, every time there is heavy rain, the water rises but cannot drain, stagnating, affecting about 8 households. The flooding also affects about 1 hectare of people's cultivated land."We have complained many times, hoping that the units will have a long-term solution, fix it, and clear the flow so that people can cultivate and not be flooded and affect people's houses," said Mr. Bao.
