On February 5th, the Gia Lai Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Project Management Board said that the Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision approving the investment project to build and repair Ia Ring lake, located in Bo Ngoong commune.
Accordingly, the project focuses on repairing and upgrading key construction items including: earth dams, water intake culverts, flood discharge spillways, management houses; and at the same time build monitoring markers, install rain measuring equipment, and measure water levels to monitor the project operation process.
The goal of the project is to ensure stable irrigation water supply for agricultural production and daily life, reduce the risk of flooding for downstream areas of the lake, maintain environmental flow; thereby contributing to stabilizing people's lives and promoting socio-economic development in the locality.
The total investment of the project is 27 billion VND, the investor is the Gia Lai Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Project Management Board.
Previously, in November 2024, Ia Ring dam, a project with a capacity of more than 10 million m3 of water, had a large hole in the dam body, causing water leakage and flooding many rice areas of people in neighboring communes.
Gia Lai province has mobilized police, militia, irrigation companies and local people to urgently transfer stone and temporarily reinforce to overcome the incident.
