The road leading to Tay Giang has now been paved with concrete, replacing the muddy, rugged dirt road of previous years. New spacious houses have sprung up close to safe resettlement areas, and the light of the national grid has reached each remote village.

The spectacular transformation of Tay Giang has been strongly marked by the National Target Programs (NTPs). These are not only paper policies, but have truly become a huge material resource, the strongest lever to comprehensively change the socio-economic face of the commune.
Mr. Bhling Mia, Secretary of the Tay Giang Commune Party Committee, shared the famous figures that prove this: In the 2020-2025 term, the total development investment capital in the area will reach more than 780 billion VND; of which, the capital of the National Target Programs will be more than 445 billion VND, accounting for 57.05% of the total development investment capital structure. Thanks to these programs, it has brought a new look, positive and clear changes to the cultural and spiritual life of the people".
This huge resource, when combined with the strong direction of the Party Committee, the close management and supervision of the government, has created a real revolution in infrastructure.
More than 550km of rural roads have been invested in for concrete, not only connecting the commune center with the villages but also reaching production areas, breaking the dividing and isolating position, opening roads for trade and development.
Another historic achievement is that 100% of households in the area have used the national grid, bringing civilized light to every home, basically improving living and production conditions.
In particular, understanding the suffering and dangers that people face in areas at high risk of natural disasters and landslides, the commune government has carried out a project of profound humanitarian significance. More than 200 billion VND has been invested in planning, leveling the ground and building 41 safe resettlement points.
This project has become a new, solid roof for more than 1,300 households, helping them settle down to make a living, no longer having to live in anxiety every rainy and stormy season.
These impressive figures are not just simple material works. Further, they have laid a solid foundation for long-term economic development, and most importantly, they have strengthened the people's strong trust in the leadership of the Party and the management and operation of the State. As Mr. Bhling Mia affirmed, the implementation of the National Target Programs is a "correct and humane policy, meeting the legitimate aspirations of the People".

Third, in terms of economy, Tay Giang clearly identifies the main direction, focusing on promoting the conversion of crop and livestock structure. Instead of low-value traditional crops, the commune has oriented the development of medicinal herbs with high economic value such as tricky rice and cinnamon, while proactively searching for and linking production with businesses to ensure stable output for products.
Fourth, an important foundation that the commune pays special attention to is the preservation and promotion of the unique cultural identity of the Co Tu ethnic group. Culture is not only considered a heritage, but also a spiritual driving force, a foundation for sustainable development, especially when combined with the community tourism model, creating a unique and attractive tourism product.
Fifth, the sustainable poverty reduction program is implemented in accordance with the motto "Give fish, not fish". That is, although the infrastructure has been improved, it still lacks sustainability due to the impact of frequent severe natural disasters. Although the poverty rate has decreased, it is still high compared to the general level. Although economic models have been formed, they are still segmented, small, and lacking close linkage.
From that very practice, the commune leaders have made very enthusiastic and appropriate proposals and recommendations to competent authorities. Firstly, the city needs to soon issue a specific mechanism for the mountainous communes in the West, while promoting decentralization and delegation of power in accordance with the motto "locality discusses, locality decides, locality implements, locality is responsible". This will help localities be more proactive and flexible in implementing tasks suitable to the actual situation.
Second, continuing to invest in upgrading and expanding major routes such as 14G and DT 606 is extremely urgent. These are not only residential roads, but also economic and cultural connections, helping to shorten the development gap between mountainous areas and urban areas, facilitating trade of goods and firmly ensuring national defense and security at the border.
Third, to effectively exploit the great potential, the commune recommends having more open and breakthrough mechanisms to attract strategic investors to strong fields such as renewable energy, forestry waste processing and especially the carbon credit market, helping localities turn vast forests into sustainable sources of income.
