On October 6, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Le Huyen signed and issued a document to strengthen the work of ensuring traffic order and safety (ATGT) in the last months of 2025.
According to statistics from the Public Security sector, in the first 8 months of 2025, Khanh Hoa province had 356 traffic accidents.
Of which, there were 346 road cases and 10 rail cases, killing 209 people and injuring 239 people.
Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 102 fewer cases (-22.3%), 2 fewer deaths (-0.9%) and 129 fewer injuries (-35.1%) - showing a decrease in traffic accidents in all three criteria.
However, according to statistics from the health sector, there are an average of 50 emergency patients due to traffic accidents per day, of which more than 57% are treated at a mild level and given back during the day, 12% have alcohol concentration in the blood and about 6% have traumatic brain injury.
These figures show that, although the number of accidents has decreased, the consequences are still greatly affecting public health, requiring more drastic participation of sectors, localities and awareness of law compliance of traffic participants.
From this reality, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committees of localities regularly advise Party committees, authorities at all levels and mass organizations on ensuring order and traffic safety.
Agencies and units need to synchronously and effectively implement resolutions, directives, telegrams of the Government, the National Traffic Safety Committee and the province's directive documents, with the consistent goal: "Human culture is paramount".
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police to direct the traffic police force and related units to increase patrols, control, and strictly handle violations such as: speeding, overloading, violating alcohol concentration, drugs, etc.
In the field of inland waterways, the authorities resolutely suspended operations and strictly handled unlicensed wharves; passenger vehicles that did not meet safety standards, violated registration, inspection, and were not equipped with adequate life-saving equipment.
The Provincial Police are assigned to organize the signing of a commitment with organizations and individuals operating in the waterway transport business, vehicle owners, wharf owners and people to strictly comply with the provisions of the Law on Inland Waterway Traffic, in order to ensure safety for people and vehicles during the peak season at the end of the year.
The results of reducing traffic accidents are a positive signal, but cannot be subjective.
When the figures on alcohol concentration and traumatic brain injury are still available, it means that traffic awareness is still a key " knot".
Along with the efforts of the authorities, each citizen needs to be more self-conscious and alert to protect themselves and the community.
