At around 10:35 a.m. on January 6, a series of accidents occurred on National Highway 20, through village 4, Dai Lao commune, Bao Loc city, Lam Dong province.
According to initial information, a 3-axle truck carrying about 15 tons of fertilizer (license plate of Dong Nai province, driver's identity unknown) was traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat.
While going downhill at the B'Lao Sre intersection, the car suddenly lost its brakes, accelerated out of control and crashed into a dump truck carrying rocks (license plate from Lam Dong province, driver's identity unknown) traveling in the same direction ahead.
The collision caused the dump truck to swerve and flip over. The truck carrying manure continued to drive onto the sidewalk, hitting a small truck (1.4 tons) and a pickup truck parked there.
Fortunately, no one was in either vehicle. The truck carrying fertilizer then crashed into a roadside drainage manhole and overturned, spilling tons of fertilizer onto the road.
The accident left the truck driver with a broken leg and requiring emergency hospitalization. All four vehicles involved were severely damaged. Traffic on Highway 20 through Dai Lao Commune was congested in both directions.
Afterwards, the authorities quickly arrived to regulate traffic and clear the scene. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the authorities.
