According to information from Chau Que Commune Police, Lao Cai province, at about 2:05 am on July 17, the unit received a report about an accident at Km169+30 Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, in the direction from Hanoi to Lao Cai, in Ha Ly village.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Chau Que Commune Police force urgently arrived at the scene, coordinated with Traffic Police Team No. 5 (Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security) and the expressway management unit to protect the scene, take the victims to the emergency room, divert traffic and resolve the incident according to regulations.
Through initial verification, the accident occurred between a passenger car with license plate 88B-011.65 driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (born 1981, residing in Duy Tien ward, Ninh Binh province) in the direction of Hanoi - Lao Cai and a truck with license plate 29H-353.45 driven by Mr. Vu Tuan Du (born 1985, residing in Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province) traveling in the same direction in front.



The collision seriously injured the passenger car driver. Although taken to the emergency room immediately afterwards, the victim did not survive. In addition, 5 other people including 3 passengers on the passenger car, the truck driver and the truck driver's wife were injured and are currently being treated at a medical facility. Two vehicles were damaged.
According to initial assessments by functional agencies, the cause of the accident was that the passenger car driver did not maintain a safe distance from the car running in front, leading to a collision with the rear of a truck traveling in the same direction.
The cause of the accident is being further investigated and clarified by functional agencies for handling according to the provisions of law.
