Quang Tri - From a chance discovery in the deep forest and shares on social networks, the martyr Tran Dinh Hoe stele has returned to its family.

On August 22, Mr. Nguyen Van Dat - Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Hiep commune, Quang Tri province confirmed that local people had just supported the family of martyr Tran Dinh Hoe, from Nam Dan, Nghe An province, to find the tombstone found in the deep forest.

At the end of June 2026, Mr. Ho Van Dinh (born in 2009, residing in Khe Van village, Huong Hiep commune) went to the Khe Hien Ma forest area to look for clouds and then unfortunately got lost. Local authorities and people organized a search.

While crossing the forest to find his younger brother, Mr. Ho Vinh discovered a stone slab lying overturned next to a large tree. When he turned it up and wiped the soil, he suddenly realized that this was a martyr's tombstone.

On the stele is engraved the name of martyr Tran Dinh Hoe, born in 1945, hometown of Nam Tan, Nam Dan, Nghe An, who died on September 24, 1966.

After finding his younger brother, Mr. Vinh posted pictures of the stele on Facebook with the desire to find relatives of martyrs and then many people posted articles in many associations and groups in Nghe An.

On July 27th, relatives of martyr Tran Dinh Hoe accidentally read the information, from which they contacted, verified and agreed to go to Quang Tri to receive the stele back.

On the morning of August 20, the martyr's family was present in Huong Hiep commune. Because the location where the stele was found is deep in Khe Hien Ma forest, the terrain is dangerous, 4 local people volunteered to bring rice, water, cross forests, cross streams for more than 10 hours to bring the stele out of the forest.

The stele is made of stone, about 50cm high, 30cm wide, and weighs about 12-15kg.

Mr. Tran Dinh Quy - grandson of martyr Tran Dinh Hoe said that in 1993, the family went to the Khe Hien Ma area to exhume the remains of the martyr and bring them back to Nghe An for burial, but at that time the stele was not found.

More than 30 years since the remains were brought back to their hometown and nearly 60 years since the martyr's sacrifice, the stele has now been erected by the family right next to the grave of martyr Tran Dinh Hoe in his hometown.
