The implementation and handling process of the traffic police at all levels is required to be implemented synchronously according to the assigned functions, tasks, routes and railway areas. The task implementation process will take place regularly and continuously with a spirit of determination to create positive changes in awareness and compliance of people along the railway, reducing accidents.
In Hanoi, on February 19, Road Traffic Police Team No. 14 - Hanoi Traffic Police Department inspected and handled violations, encouraged people not to encroach on railway safety corridors, not to open illegal crossings, and not to do business within the railway safety area in Van Dien - Thanh Tri section.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Tu Anh - Deputy Captain of Road Traffic Police Team No. 14, the authorities have coordinated with local authorities and the railway industry to organize inspections, reviews, and put up warning signs, requesting households to voluntarily correct violations. Cases of intentional violations will be strictly handled according to regulations.
During this inspection, Hanoi City Traffic Police will strictly handle violations at the railway crossing, such as not complying with orders and instructions of traffic signs; not complying with regulations on stopping and parking at road intersections at the same level as railways; turning around, going, standing, lying on railways; crossing fences and fences separating railways from surrounding areas..., Lieutenant Colonel Tran Tu Anh said.
In addition to inspection and handling of violations, the Traffic Police will continue to coordinate with the railway industry and local authorities to organize fences and clear illegal self-opened paths, contributing to reducing the risk of accidents.
Over the past month, there have been two consecutive collisions between a train and a motorbike in Hanoi, causing two motorcyclists to die on the spot. What is worrying is that accidents always occur at self-opened and unsafe crossings.
Sharing with reporters, many people living along the railway corridor, the section passing through Hoang Mai and Thanh Tri districts, said that it was a pity that people had not opened their own crossings across the railway. Accordingly, the current system of residential access roads leading to crossings with automatic barriers or security guards has degraded, is rough, and many sections are unsafe.
"We fully support the closure of self-opened roads. However, we hope that the authorities will pay attention to the service road system, making it more convenient for people to travel and live. Many sections currently have no service roads because many households encroach on them to display goods" - Mr. Thanh Ha (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) shared.
