On January 22, according to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, on National Highway 1 through Ha Tinh, the volume of passenger cars traveling in the area has increased.
At some restaurants in Tan Lam Huong commune, Ha Tinh city at noon, many passenger buses stop for customers to eat.
Through the reporter's observation, many sleeper buses carry the correct number of people according to the number of beds arranged on the bus.
Driver Tran Van Quang (48 years old, from Nghe An province) driving a passenger bus on the Nghe An - Ho Chi Minh City route shared, "Near Tet, the demand for people from the South to return to their hometowns increases. However, Decree 168 has just taken effect with very high penalties for violations, so we do not dare to carry more passengers than the regulations, nor do we dare to drive recklessly, encroach on lanes, or violate the speed limit."
At traffic control points on National Highway 1 in Ha Tinh, Ha Tinh Traffic Police also increased stopping and checking the number of passengers on passenger buses to detect and handle vehicles carrying more people than the prescribed number.
Major Tran Thanh Ha - Officer of the Traffic Police Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Police - said that at this time, the number of people from the South and the North returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet has gradually increased.
To ensure traffic safety and order during Tet, the Traffic Police Department of Ha Tinh Province has also increased patrols and controls to detect and handle violations of the Traffic Safety Law, including increased inspection of carrying more passengers than prescribed.
Major Ha also said that through patrolling and controlling traffic on National Highway 1 in Ha Tinh, the Traffic Police working group found that few passenger vehicles violated the regulations by carrying more passengers than the prescribed number.
“Because the Traffic Police of all provinces have increased patrols, controls, and handling during Tet, along with Decree 168 taking effect from January 1, 2025 with very high fines, drivers basically comply well and do not dare to violate,” Major Ha shared.
Previously, from December 15, 2024, Ha Tinh Provincial Police launched a high-point campaign to attack and suppress crimes, ensuring security, order, and traffic safety during the Lunar New Year.
According to the report of the Traffic Safety Committee of Ha Tinh province, from December 15, 2024 to January 15, 2025, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police force patrolled, controlled, recorded, and handled 3,297 cases of traffic safety violations, fined more than 5.8 billion VND; temporarily detained 645 motorbikes, 23 cars, 53 other vehicles; revoked 347 driving licenses.
