According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, during the days leading up to Tet, most bus companies in the provinces of Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, etc. have kept ticket prices stable so that people, workers, and students can return home for Tet.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Trinh Quang Hung - Director of Song Da Transport Cooperative (Hanoi - Luong Son - Hoa Binh route) - said that the Lunar New Year is supposed to be the peak transportation season because of the large number of passengers traveling. However, in recent days, the number of passengers traveling has not been high.
According to Mr. Hung, these days, the unit has no plans to increase trips or transport routes. In the future, if the number of passengers is high, it will be reconsidered. In addition, the cooperative also affirmed that the unit's ticket prices will remain the same on any holiday or Tet.
Mr. Giang - driver of Hai Dinh bus company (Dien Bien - Thanh Hoa route) - shared: "Previously, on holidays and Tet, bus companies would increase the number of trips to ensure serving the travel needs of people. But in recent years, the buses are often empty, not enough for the standard number of passengers."
According to this driver, the number of passengers during Tet this year will increase but not much. However, the company will still increase the number of vehicles to serve people, not making anyone wait for the vehicle, at the same time, ensuring to keep the fare the same as normal days at 450,000 VND/ticket.
Similarly, Mr. Le Dung - owner of Le Dung bus company (Hanoi - Dien Bien route) - said that the bus company's passenger and cargo transportation fares will not change even during the peak Tet holiday.
"The bus company always ensures the number of buses to serve passengers. In recent days, the number of passengers traveling on the Hanoi - Dien Bien route has increased sharply. Therefore, the company has adjusted to increase the number of trips to meet people's travel needs. In the opposite direction from Dien Bien to Hanoi, due to cost issues, the number of trips remains the same," said Mr. Dung.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang - owner of Anh Giang bus company (Yen Bai - Hoa Binh route) - also does not expect too much that the number of passengers will increase during this Tet holiday.
According to Mr. Giang, although it is almost Tet, the number of passengers traveling is not much. However, the bus company still has a backup plan to increase the number of buses on busy days.
"We will maintain the ticket price stable as usual at 200,000 VND/ticket, so that passengers can rest assured to return home for Tet," said Mr. Giang.
