In the first days of the new school year, in addition to studying, students in the mountainous areas of Dien Bien are also equipped with important knowledge to apply in life. In particular, there have been many propaganda and dissemination sessions to improve the prevention of the harmful effects of alcohol.
In the mountainous district of Tua Chua, where over 95% of the population is ethnic minorities, propaganda work on health protection skills for students is always focused on.
At Ta Phin Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School - Ta Phin Commune, Tua Chua District, a meaningful propaganda session took place with the participation of 397 students and teachers.
Students were provided with scientific and accurate information about the harmful effects of alcohol on health, especially for students, by officials from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dien Bien province.
Student Mua Thi Huyen Anh - Mong ethnic, class 8C, Ta Phin Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities - said: "I have learned more about the harmful effects of alcohol and the dangers it causes. Through the propaganda sessions, I and my friends have acquired more knowledge and skills directly related to life."
Not only stopping at propaganda to prevent the harmful effects of alcohol, students are also equipped with basic knowledge about traffic laws, prevention of school violence, child abuse, drug prevention, school violence...
Ms. Doan Thu Hien - Principal of Ta Phin Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities - said: "Propaganda on preventing the harmful effects of alcohol for students is extremely necessary, especially for ethnic minority students. Through this propaganda session, we hope that students will be more aware of the harmful effects of alcohol and from there take practical actions to protect their health."
According to Dr. Nguyen Hong Thanh - Deputy Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dien Bien province, in October 2024 alone, the provincial CDC developed a plan and coordinated propaganda on preventing the harmful effects of alcohol and beer for teachers, school health workers, and students at 32 junior high and high schools in the province.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Duc Bieu - Head of the Education and Training Division of Tua Chua district - said: "Equipping students with knowledge, especially ethnic minority students, is extremely important. Therefore, the Education and Training Department has implemented many diverse and creative activities to help students gain more knowledge and protect their own health."
In addition, in the 2024-2025 school year, the District Department of Education and Training has coordinated with local agencies and departments to raise legal awareness for students, typically: propaganda and legal education on traffic safety, drug prevention, school violence, etc.
“Right from the beginning of the school year, the Department of Education and Training has planned to invite the Traffic Police Team of Tua Chua District Police to participate in instructing students on the necessary regulations for safe traffic participation at 37 schools,” Mr. Bieu emphasized.
