On the morning of April 2, in Ngu Thuy commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province), the People's Army Newspaper coordinated with Military Region 4, accompanying units and local authorities to organize a program to present gifts to 72 former militia members of the Ngu Thuy female artillery company.
The program is part of a series of activities towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and is associated with the plan to organize the Workshop "Military Region 4: Resilient front line, solid rear".
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Doan Xuan Bo - Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper - emotionally recalled the heroic history of the Ngu Thuy Artillery Women's Company - affectionately known as "Sister" - established on November 20, 1967 with 37 young soldiers, aged from 16 to 22, who are members of the local cooperative.

During 10 years of operation (1967-1977), the unit has achieved many resounding feats, typically 5 fires on American warships, received letters of commendation from Uncle Ho and was awarded many noble medals. On August 25, 1970, the unit was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
The examples of mothers and O are vivid evidence of the patriotism, silent sacrifice and steadfastness of Vietnamese women. Today's gifts are a gratitude from the heart, from the generation living in peace to the generation who have devoted their youth to the Fatherland" - Major General Doan Xuan Bo said.
At the ceremony, delegates presented dozens of gifts to each former militia and artillery female artillery officer, and sent gifts to the authorities of Ngu Thuy and Ngu Thuy Bac communes.
