On December 4, according to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, hundreds of workers and machinery were working on the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project construction site. According to observations, the main items of the project have been basically completed.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - an officer of the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Ha Tinh Province - said that up to now, the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project has completed about 90% of the construction volume.
According to Mr. Son, the project is currently in its "final" phase, so every day at the construction site there are about 200 workers focusing on speeding up the progress.
"The construction of fishing ports depends heavily on the tide, so in the past, to ensure progress, when the tide went down at night, the contractor poured concrete at night," said Mr. Son.
According to Mr. Son, the main items have been basically completed, so it is estimated that the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project will be completed on schedule by the end of December 2024.
The Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project (in Cam Nhuong Commune, Cam Xuyen District) has a total investment capital of 280 billion VND, using capital from compensation for marine environmental incidents of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation.
The project is invested by the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Ha Tinh Province, and started construction on January 20, 2024.
This fishing port has a capacity of 400CV ships that can enter and exit the port during the dry season, with a docking capacity of 100 ships per day, and the amount of aquatic products passing through the port is about 16,000 tons per year, meeting the requirements of a level 2 fishing port.
As reported by Lao Dong, on May 1, 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 476 assigning the People's Committees of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue provinces to direct the implementation of investment projects "Construction and upgrading of fisheries logistics service facilities" and the project "Restoration and regeneration of aquatic ecosystems and aquatic resources".
These projects use compensation money for marine environmental incidents of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation.
Implementing the above decision, Ha Tinh province has deployed 4 projects including: Investment project to build and expand Thach Kim fishing port; Investment project to build infrastructure for fishing logistics services at Cua Khau storm shelter area in Ky Ha commune; Project to dredge and reroute the channel and entrance to Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter area; Investment project to build Cua Nhuong fishing port in Cam Nhuong commune.
However, the above projects were slow to be implemented, so the Prime Minister later granted an extension.
Up to now, Ha Tinh has only had the Project to invest in building infrastructure for fishing logistics services at the Cua Khau storm shelter area in Ky Ha commune completed and put into use from June 2023.
The Cua Nhuong fishing port construction investment project and the Thach Kim fishing port expansion investment project are under construction and must be completed by December 31, 2024.
The project to dredge and reroute the channel and entrance to the Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter area (in Xuan Pho commune, Nghi Xuan district) with a total investment of 20 billion VND has not yet been implemented due to a request to increase the capital source.
