Urgently restore traffic, ensure safe travel
In Gia Lai, prolonged heavy rain caused the pass through the old Song Cau town to continuously collapse, rocks and soil spilled onto the road, many "potholes" appeared and the water flowed rapidly, causing slippery conditions, posing a high risk of accidents. The authorities immediately placed warning signs and instructions for slowing down, while urgently clearing rocks and soil, reinforcing the positive slope to open the route for people to travel safely.
At the same time, local authorities have continuously advised people to limit traveling through the pass during bad weather. The restoration of this vital traffic route is an important condition to help circulate goods, ensuring the supply of food and relief supplies to areas that are heavily affected.
In Lam Dong, a crack of more than 700m appeared on Trang Bang hill (D'ran commune), directly threatening residential areas. Immediately, the military, police and government forces took action to evacuate 30 households with 150 people to safe places, support people in transporting assets and temporarily stabilizing their housing.
Mr. Nguyen Lam - a resident living at the foot of the hill - shared that for many years, this area has never had any unusual phenomena. "Since the cracks, my family of 20 people have had to move away in anxiety. Thanks to the support of the army and the police, the relocation is more convenient, he said.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi emphasized at the November meeting (taking place on November4) that the recovery work must be implemented "every hour, every day", quickly and accurately counting damage to provide timely support. Localities are required not to be late, especially in the stage of supporting people to repair their houses, repair schools, medical stations - places that directly serve the essential needs of the community.
Quickly stabilizing people's lives
Immediately after the water recedes, the urgent task of Khanh Hoa province is to ensure people's lives, especially in the context of food prices at risk of rapid increase. On the morning of November 24, Provincial Party Secretary Nghiem Xuan Thanh directly inspected two large markets, Xom Moi market and Khanh Vinh market. Here, he visited traders, surveyed price fluctuations and requested the Department of Industry and Trade to deploy a series of solutions to stabilize the market.
According to the direction of the Provincial Party Secretary, Khanh Hoa must quickly supplement the supply of food and provisions, especially green vegetables, eggs and meat products. The province proactively contacts localities not affected by floods to compensate for the shortage of goods, avoiding the market being pushed into a state of scarcity. The inspection and handling of cases of hoarding and unreasonable price increases have been strengthened, and markets are required to clearly list prices for people to easily monitor.
To receive feedback from the people, the province has established a hotline to immediately handle cases of sales at prices higher than the prescribed price. At the same time, price stabilization booths are organized in areas that are heavily affected, supported by youth unions and women's unions, helping to provide goods at reasonable prices during difficult times.
Also on November 24, Khanh Hoa received 60 tons of necessities from charity groups in the South. The relief goods including rice, instant noodles, milk, water, cakes, blankets and life jackets were urgently distributed to communes and wards in the south of the province, where many areas have been isolated for many days.
In Dak Lak, the military and local authorities are urgently handling each landslide site and the area that was severely damaged. Affected schools are being repaired as quickly as possible to welcome students back to class soon. The houses with their roofs blown off must be repaired before November 30, while the completely collapsed houses must be rebuilt and handed over before January 30.
