On January 20, Mr. Le Dinh Khiem - Head of the Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands of Khanh Hoa province - said that fishing vessel KH 90026 TS owned and captained by Mr. Pham Van Bong (residing in Bac Nha Trang ward) has lost contact since January 9 and has not been found yet.
According to data from the fishing vessel monitoring system, the last signal of the vessel was recorded at 1:45 am on January 9 in the sea area bordering Khanh Hoa - Dak Lak.
At this time, the area experienced level 8 winds, strong sea waves. When the signal was lost, the ship was moving at a speed of about 2 knots/hour.
Immediately after discovering the incident, the Khanh Hoa Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands requested the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Resources Surveillance, Flotilla 129, Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 4, Provincial Military Command and nearby fishing vessels to coordinate in supporting the search.
However, up to now, the on-duty force has not been able to contact the captain and crew members on the ship. Search work continues to be deployed on a large scale.
The ship owner's family also proactively hired vehicles to go to the area where the ship lost signal to search.
Initial results only detected a floating pontoon net near the sea area of Phu Quy island (Lam Dong province), suspected to belong to ship KH 90026 TS.
In addition, no further traces related to the vehicle and 8 workers on the fishing boat have been recorded.
Khanh Hoa Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands requests functional units and ships operating at sea to promptly notify the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Khanh Hoa province (through the Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands) when detecting information related to fishing vessel KH 90026 TS.
