On the evening of March 6, Mr. Doan Viet Van - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ve Giang commune, Quang Ngai province, confirmed that a railway traffic accident had just occurred in the area between train SE8 and a tractor-trailer.
According to Mr. Van, the accident occurred at about 8:45 pm on Provincial Road 628 intersecting with the railway in An Dai 3 village, Ve Giang commune. At that time, the tractor-trailer was stuck in the middle of the railway track when the train was about to rush in.
Although they tried to find a way to turn around, the train crashed into the middle of the tractor-trailer, causing the front and trailer to be separated, lying far apart. The car cabin was thrown out, deformed, and damaged. The front of the SE8 train was also heavily damaged.
After the accident, the male tractor-trailer driver was injured and taken for health check. The train could not continue moving. The accident caused traffic in the area to be congested, and hundreds of curious people gathered to watch.
Upon receiving the news, functional forces of Quang Ngai province quickly arrived, handled the scene and investigated the cause.
