According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the afternoon of September 10, the tropical convergence zone with its axis through the South Central region, combined with the Southwest monsoon operating at medium intensity, created conditions for the formation of strong convective clouds in Ho Chi Minh City.
Through monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar and lightning positioning systems, the meteorological agency recorded a developing convective cloud area, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning on a large scale in many wards and communes of Ho Chi Minh City.
The areas being affected include many central wards and eastern, western, and southern areas of the city such as Saigon, Tan Dinh, Ben Thanh, Xuan Hoa, Cho Lon, Binh Phu, Tan My, Tan Hung, Phu Dinh, Binh Dong, Dien Hong, Phu Tho, Gia Dinh, Binh Thanh, Bay Hien, Tan Binh, Tan Son, Tan Son Nhi, Phu Tho Hoa, Long Phuoc, Long Truong, Cat Lai, Binh Trung, An Khanh, Thoi Hoa, An Phu...
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in the above-mentioned areas, then it is likely to expand to many other wards and communes such as Lai Thieu, Dong Hoa, Tang Nhon Phu, Long Binh, Linh Xuan, Binh Hoa, Di An, Binh Tan, Binh Hung Hoa, An Hoi Tay, Trung My Tay, Dong Hung Thuan, Binh Tri Dong, Phu My, Tan Hai, Tan Thanh, Ba Diem, Thanh An and Chau Pha.
Common rainfall is 10-30 mm, in some places over 40 mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7, equivalent to about 8-17 m/s.
