On July 11, information from the People's Committee of Ngan Son and Thai Nguyen communes (formerly in Ngan Son district, Bac Kan), the locality urgently organized the evacuation of households from areas at risk of serious landslides in Deo Gio sub-region after many days of prolonged heavy rain.
From mid-June to early July 2025, heavy rain caused a crack over 100m long and about 30cm wide to appear in the positive slope behind the houses of 4 households.
The ground is over 10m high, with a disjointed structure, and continuous leaks of groundwater have pushed mud down the foot of the hill.

The initial volume of landslides was estimated at about 40,000m3. After that, the rain continued to persist, causing the landslide to increase, raising the total volume of land at risk of landslides to about 73,000m3.
Another household in the sub-region also had a collapse in a pigsty, with about 5,000m3 of land sliding down close to the housing area.
The People's Committee of Ngan Son commune has requested households to urgently evacuate people and property. At the same time, households pledged not to stay at home at night to avoid human risks.

Currently, the commune has directed the arrangement of tents for households to temporarily stabilize their lives, while closely monitoring geological developments and promptly handling any situations that arise.
In addition, it is recommended that the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and branches soon have a plan to handle landslides on the field, to ensure the safety of people and minimize property damage.
According to the warning from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Hydrometeorological Station (the general climate affected area of the Northeast), the Northern mountainous region will have heavy rain, some places very heavy, common rainfall from 50 - 100mm, some places exceeding 150mm.
During thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind may occur. There is a high risk of landslides, flash floods, and flash floods.
In the face of the above situation, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province has requested localities to strengthen monitoring of weather developments, proactively plan to respond to natural disasters, protect the safety of irrigation works, dykes, reservoirs and people's lives.
