On November 16, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that in the past, the unit had established 4 working groups, coordinating with the Department of Security Investigation, the Department of Economic Security, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to inspect the records, processes, working minutes and handle 13 administrative violations related to IUU.

Based on the violations, the police force has advised the authorities to issue decisions on sanctions according to regulations, ensuring strictness and deterrence.
In addition, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have worked directly with the Border Guard, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and 4 coastal localities including Hoa Loc, Van Loc, Tien Trang and Hai Binh to clarify the cases of loss of signal of the vessel's journey monitoring device (VMS).
With the synchronous and drastic participation of the authorities, the situation of fishing vessels violating or not qualified to operate in the area has decreased sharply. In just over 1 month (from October 2 to November 13), the number of fishing vessels in violation has decreased from 335 to 71.
According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, identifying the IUU "yellow card" removal as a key and urgent political task. In the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to do a good job of managing ships; resolutely prevent and not let unqualified or violating fishing vessels depart for sea. In addition, the unit will proactively detect, investigate and strictly handle acts of brokerage and hook-ups that bring fishing vessels and fishermen to illegally exploit in foreign waters.
For the police of coastal communes and wards, grassroots forces continue to promote their frontline role, proactively advise local Party committees and authorities to encourage fishermen and ship owners to strictly comply with regulations on combating illegal fishing; complete procedures and documents related to fishing vessels such as fishing licenses, fishing vessel inspections, food safety certificates, etc.
