On June 17, the Border Guard Command of An Giang province organized a Conference to announce the decisions of the Border Guard Command to establish a unmanned vehicle platoon to perform border management and protection tasks in the new situation.
In the context of the world and regional situation with many complex developments, the task of managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security poses increasingly high requirements for the Border Guard force. Along with promoting the core and specialized role in managing and protecting national borders according to the provisions of the Vietnam Border Guard Law, the application of modern science and technology to perform tasks is becoming an inevitable trend. Starting from that practical requirement, the establishment of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control teams in the An Giang Provincial Border Guard is of utmost importance, contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of border management and protection in the new situation.
The sea and island border area of An Giang province is very large, with many complex terrains, while the task force must manage a large area with many key routes and areas. Previously, patrols and controls mainly relied on manpower and traditional means, so they faced many difficulties, especially in dangerous areas or harsh weather conditions. The birth of UAV control teams has created a strong shift in the method of performing tasks. With flexible air operation capabilities, UAVs help Border Guard officers and soldiers quickly observe and monitor large areas without having to deploy many forces directly on the ground. Images and data transmitted to the control center in real time help commanders firmly grasp the situation in the area, promptly detect unusual signs to come up with appropriate handling plans.
The establishment of the UAV control team also shows the determination to promote digital transformation and application of high technology in the Provincial Border Guard force. This is a step in line with the development trend of modern military science, contributing to building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Border Guard force. UAVs are not only a simple means of observation but also a tool to support data collection, storage and analysis, creating a basis for building a smart border management system in the future.
