Youth are a powerful force in addressing climate change. Youth will participate in a just energy transition in Vietnam.

At the Climate talk with the theme: "Youth participation in the equitable energy transition in Vietnam" organized by the Faculty of Sociology and Development (Academy of Journalism and Communication) on October 9, Dr. Chu Thi Thanh Huong - Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said: Currently, climate change is a big challenge, requiring the joint efforts of countries around the world to solve. As a country heavily affected by climate change, Vietnamese youth are clearly aware of their role and responsibility in solving the problem of climate change with stakeholders. With creativity and dynamism, young people have proactively participated in four main areas: Mitigating greenhouse gas emissions; Adapting to climate change; Nature-based solutions; Climate change policies.

Nguyen Son Tra, Representative of Green Youth Labs Program - a training and innovation program by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) said: Currently, Vietnamese youth participate in climate action mainly through communication. They take advantage of their creative strengths, creating communication products such as promotional campaigns, songs, poems, comics, plays... to call on everyone to be aware of environmental protection and solving climate change problems.

The discussion helped young people learn about Vietnam’s current energy transition, raise awareness of the need for climate action in one of the countries most affected by climate change, and encourage them to participate enthusiastically.

During the discussion, speakers focused on sharing and exchanging opinions on the role of youth in participating in climate action, and solutions to promote the role of youth in participating in environmental protection and climate action.

"I hope that the young generation of Vietnam will be more active in practicing green living, reducing emissions through energy saving, using green means of transport, reducing consumption of disposable plastic waste, protecting nature, forests and oceans," Nguyen Son Tra added.
