On the days before Tet, when visiting teacher Hoang Trong Tuyen (in Thieu Van commune, Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province), many people could not help but admire his work of writing calligraphy on Ky Da grapefruit, which looked extremely beautiful.

According to teacher Tuyen, in recent years, people have been interested in buying fruits with calligraphy to make fruit trays. So he decided to switch to making this product to serve people during Tet.
The fruit he chose was the Vietnamese grapefruit (a type of grapefruit), this fruit is longer than grapefruit, yellow in color, when sprayed with a little wine, the fruit has a light fragrance that spreads throughout the room. As for the pulp of this fruit, after the Tet holiday, when taken out to eat, it has a sweet taste, very pleasant.
"In particular, when placed on the five-fruit tray for incense burning, combined with some other fruits, the five-fruit tray becomes more beautiful and fragrant during Tet," said Mr. Tuyen.

To make the already beautiful grapefruits even more beautiful, Master Tuyen diligently writes calligraphy every day with contents such as fortune, luck, wealth... hoping to bring good luck in the new year to the homeowner.
According to Mr. Tuyen, in order to realize his idea and get beautiful Ky Da grapefruits, from mid-December, he went to some gardeners in mountainous districts such as Cam Thuy and Thach Thanh to order. Then he carefully brought them back, washed them, and prepared to write calligraphy on the fruit.

“The writing process must be very meticulous and careful, so that the fruit is not scratched, because if the fruit is damaged, it will quickly spoil. I often write meaningful words about fortune, health, wealth, and luck on the surface of the fruit to match the content of Tet,” Tuyen shared.
According to Tuyen, he completes about 30 Vietnamese grapefruits a day on average. Each decorated grapefruit sells for between 250,000 and 300,000 VND, depending on its complexity and size. Because people have been fond of using this fruit in recent years, Tuyen cannot make it in time to sell it on the days leading up to Tet, and estimates his income to be up to several tens of millions of VND.
