On August 2, Mr. Hoang Le Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Gia Hoi commune, Lao Cai province, said that the collapse of the fish pond wall in Ta Lanh village killed 3 people.
Previously, at around 10:30 a.m. on August 1, Ms. Vang Thi Say (born in 1992) and her 3 young children, Cu Manh Huy (born in 2018); Cu Thi Ngoc Phuong (born in 2022) and Cu Thi Thu Thao (born in 2002) were grazing buffaloes, avoiding the sun in the fish pond of Mr. Ho Dinh Doanh in Ta Lanh village.
Suddenly, a water tank with a capacity of about 12m3 broke, causing the surrounding wall to collapse and crush these 4 people.

As a result, Ms. Vang Thi Say and Cu Thi Thu Thao died on the spot. Cu Manh Huy and Cu Thi Ngoc Phuong were taken to General Hospital No. 3 (Lao Cai province) for emergency treatment by local people in critical condition.
However, on August 2, Huy did not survive. Phuong is still being treated actively and has a poor prognosis.
Immediately after the incident, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Phuoc and local leaders went to the scene to direct the work to overcome the consequences.
On August 2, the working delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province also visited, encouraged, supported the burial cost for the families of the deceased victims and supported the treatment of the injured victims.

It is known that Ms. Say, Huy and Phuong are 3 mother and child, all residing in Ta Lanh village, Gia Hoi commune, Lao Cai province.
Currently, Lao Cai Provincial Police are investigating and clarifying the incident.
