Learning about the history of today's young generation is vividly transformed with new, creative forms and spreading strongly. It is easy to see that in the 50th anniversaries of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day this year - the long lines of students wearing the red flag of the Fatherland, are not to "go for a movement", but to volunteer and be full of excitement. In Ben Tre, Dong Nai, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City... young people organized parades, cleaned martyrs' cemeteries, lit congresses to pay tribute, made historical short films, and wrote letters to veterans.
Young people born and raised peacefully, using technology they are proficient in, are leaving history in an easy-to-reach, familiar way: Livestreaming the journey to the source; making vlogs to explore museums and relics; creating historical scenes on TikTok; organizing talkshow about war memories right in class or student clubs.
The shift in historical approach is taking place silently but strongly among young people. My friend said that his son, an 11th grade student, confided: In the past, talking about history was boring. Now it is different, I feel more fascinated after each time I visit the old battlefield or hear the witness tell me. In many schools, teachers do not only teach history through textbooks but also combine documentaries, storytelling, and historical roles. The movement of "Scenarizing history" and "Leaving history" is arousing patriotism and national pride in secondary and high school students.
It is also impossible not to mention the recent hit films such as Dao, Pho and Piano, Geography: The Sun in the Dark which have been strongly received by young audiences. Many young people after watching the film shared their emotions, opened forums to discuss, and wrote comments with deep understanding. Revolutionary songs are also remixed by many young people, performed at school art programs, student talent contests, with a creative spirit but still maintaining their original values.
50 years after the country a strip, the young generation of Vietnam - although living in the middle of the modern hustle, is still silently preserving the sacred memories of the past. And when they engraved the historical name into the heart, it was also the time when the shape of a bright future began to shape.
This 30.4-1.5 holiday, many families will certainly be like my friends, looking for historical relics and revolutionary sites instead of focusing on resort tourism areas. This is a valuable way to learn more about and love the history of our country, especially today's youth.
