From many years of working in the People's Police force, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan - Director of Hue City Police is known as a close-to-the-roots commander, decisive in directing security and order assurance solutions. Introduced as a candidate for Hue City People's Council delegate for the 2026 - 2031 term, he expressed his desire to continue to contribute practical experience to serve the people and the sustainable development of the city.
The mark of the leader
Born in 1976 in Quang Phu ward, Thanh Hoa province, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan was trained at the People's Police Academy, with a Doctorate in People's Security. After many years of work, in January 2018, he was transferred to take on duties at Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police (now Hue City Police).
In the process of working, with practical experience and closeness to the area, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan and the leadership collective of Hue City Police implemented many solutions to maintain security and order, contributing to creating a safe environment for socio-economic development.
Hue is a centrally-run city, both a major cultural and tourist center of the Central region, and has an important position in terms of national defense and security. The process of development and deep integration also poses many new requirements for ensuring security and order.
In his position as Director of Hue City Police, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan and the Party Committee and Board of Directors of Hue City Police proactively advised the City Party Committee, People's Council, and City People's Committee on many solutions to maintain political security and ensure social order and safety.
In 2025 alone, the emulation movement "For National Security" was strongly implemented, contributing to ensuring the safety of 120 major political and cultural events with the participation of 41 high-level delegations from home and abroad.
In the work of fighting and preventing crime, Hue City Police have detected and handled 1,105 cases with about 2,000 law-breaking subjects; the rate of investigation and detection of social order cases reached over 88%. Social order crime decreased by nearly 19%, exceeding the target assigned by the Ministry of Public Security.
Drug prevention and control work continued to be promoted with 495 cases, 787 subjects detected and handled; and at the same time, 12 communes and wards achieved the "no drugs" criteria, exceeding the set plan.
In the field of traffic order and safety, the Traffic Police force of Hue City Police strengthened patrols, inspections and applied surveillance technology. The traffic camera system has detected more than 59,000 violation information, supported handling over 46,000 cases, contributing to reducing traffic accidents in all three criteria: number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries.
Administrative reform and digital transformation have achieved many positive results. Implementing Project 06 of the Government, Hue City Police have promptly resolved nearly 105,000 dossiers, guiding the activation of more than 860,000 VNeID accounts for people. The administrative reform index of the unit is ranked excellent, ranking 6th nationwide.
In addition to ensuring security and order, the police force also actively supports people in natural disasters. During the recent heavy rain and flood, when nearly 45,000 houses were flooded, more than 40,000 turns of officers and soldiers were mobilized to participate in rescue and relocation of over 20,000 people to safe places.
After the natural disaster, Hue City Police deployed the "Quang Trung Campaign", supporting disaster recovery and building 2 houses for households whose houses were collapsed in Khe Tre commune with a total cost of 300 million VND.
In 2025, the entire force had 148 collectives, more than 1,000 individuals commended; the unit was awarded the Second-class Military Exploit Medal by the President, and the Prime Minister awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag.
Responsibility to voters
In the 2021 - 2026 term, in his role as a delegate of the Hue City People's Council of the VIII term, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan participated in many supervisory activities, contacted voters, and contributed opinions related to people's livelihoods such as grassroots security and order, crime prevention and control, order, traffic safety and administrative reform to serve the people.
At the meeting with voters of candidates for Hue City People's Council delegates for the 2026 - 2031 term, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan said that if he is trusted by voters, he will spend more time meeting and listening to the thoughts and aspirations of the people; promptly reflect voters' opinions to the People's Council and functional agencies.
He affirmed that he will continue to direct Hue City Police to synchronously implement solutions to maintain political security, fight against crime, and build a safe living environment. Thereby contributing to Hue's stable and sustainable development, towards the goal of building an increasingly safe and livable city.
